Mr Atkins was right to be worried. He had flu and must stay in bed. He has fever and a headache.
He just called Ethan on his cell phone, to tell him to take care of his friends in front of the college and make them wait until Mr Burden (oh yes !) arrives who is going to replace him (to stand in) forwelcoming the French students at the airport.

I just had a call from Mr Atkins on my cell phone . He 's sick . He's got a flu., he can't move out of his bed, he's got fever and a very bad head ache and he's sorry but he's not able to go to the airport
But we are not going to the airport alone. We are asked to stay all together in front the college and wait until Mr Burden (oh yes !) comes to replace Mr Atkins. He might be late but we mustn' t move from here. He's got all the train tickets and the official documents for the French students we 're going to meet at the airport.
