The United States already has about the notion "Location and forms of power". I would like to give the definition of Locations and Power. Locations are a site, a position or the state of being located (situated). Power is defined as a person, group, or nation having great influence or control over others and the ability or official capacity to exercise control, authority (The State, the government and political organization). His (whose?) power is represented by a lot of icons. I would like to illustrate this notion through the theme "Guns Control" and "The Death Penalty". So as to answer the question of how the America legislation became different with others countries. First of all, I will concentrate on the laws established in the distance past. Finally, I will say a few words about the different opinions on these laws.
At the beginning of the 19 century, people begun to carry arms on themselves for the conquest of the West. We can illustrate this with a cover of a cartoon. It elaborates this by the use of symbolic images of America. We can see the top of the Empire State Building, which is the symbol of all American skyscrapers, which was for years the world's tallest building. Nearly as tall as the skyscrapers, John Wayne, an american film icon in his cowboy outfit, is standing on the right, pointing his gun to the sky as a sign of victory or as a warning. However (indicates a contrast) some of the images from this picture are flawlessly of the USA. With this picture, it's easy to understand the U.S.A's history and its link with guns.
Indeed, guns became an image of the power of USA. This law was passed in the legislation by the 2nd amendment (who is used for people) says : "A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed". It mentioned, in 1791, the right of people to carry guns.
The cartoon "Bowling for Columbine" illustrate this history too. It raises the problem of the violence in the U.S.A, especially in High School. We can see school boys and school girls getting out of the school bus as well as other school children who are most likely walking to school. So, the author's aim is to be quite convincing and effective insofar as it must have made most American people react and consider the bearing of firearm as a burning issue. In fact, there was a lot of events, like slavery, formation of the KKK and NRA. These tensions were the foundation of American values about weapons's law. Another document that deals with this subject a recording that focuses on the regulation of firearms in the United States. It explains that if you are 18 years old in Colorado, it's easy to carry gun as a result of the "Far-West" history.
Secondly, we can speak about the capital punishment. Although all the States do not agree with the Death Penalty, this law became an important part of the constitution. In fact, 34 states have implemented the death penalty as a punishment since 1976. These statistics clearly show that the Americans agree with the use of the death penalty as a just punishment for certain crimes.
In spite of these laws, we can see different points of view of the Americans. That's why we can have a look at different documents that try to explain this.
Then, it's obvious that guns have a major place in America so much so that is awesome. An article written by Nick Allen on the 1st of January 2012 confirm this observation. He explains that Americans record numbers of guns for Christmas and after much research, he tries to find reasons for it. The NRA (National Rifle Association) said people were preoccupied with self defense because police officer's numbers were declining. An other reason can be that people believe tighter firearms laws will be introduced in the future. So, these mass purchases perfectly illustrates the interest about guns and weapons.
Also, an interview draws our attention to the fact that several rules could be modified. Adria, a woman native to Kentucky and member of the Republican party, explains that she agrees to the making of stricter rules on handguns but not against the use of certain weapons for recreation. However, her interlocutor seems to be favorable for an update of certain rules to ensure that the holder of a firearm is healthy in body and mind. Despite, in regards to guns, it would seem that everyone doesn't have the same opinion.
Moreover, people introduced pictograms with shocking messages to protect and prevent disaster. For example, we can see "Staff heavily armed and trained ; any attempt to harm children will be met with deadly force." That's can be a representation of a kind of limit on the guns control.
