1) James Cook was the first who sailed along and mapped the east coast Australia, in 1770.

3) The first settlers were the Aborigines.

4) Australia Day is on January 26 and it commemorates the establishment of the first European settlement, it was 1778. This is a great moment for Australians because they're all together, they share their culture and celebrate their country.

5) Wool was the first thing to make Australia prosperous. The wool industry took off in the early 1800s, bringing wealth to many areas. The gold is also a big part of Australia's prosperity.

6) The year 1901 in Australia refers to the same period of time referred to as 1901 in the United States, it's about the Gregorian calendar. ( common year starting, it describes the year of the 2nd millennium ... )

7) Australia is so multicultural, because their immigration system was completely redone after World War I ; and the formation of the Special Broadcasting Service. Many policies supported them.
