Yes, it exists a link between development and the destruction of the environment because development is a fast evolution with several means. But, the problem is development doesn't take into account environment because it will slow down development.
For example, in developing countries like India or China, the government isn't careful about the environment beacause they have to make up for the delay of having been behind developed countries. So, the environment isn't their problems for the moment.
So, it demonstrates the link between development and the destruction of the environment
