Pop Art began in the early fiftiesin Great Briain and in the end of the fifties in the US. Andy Warhol is one of the main artist in this artistic movement. He invented this expression "15 minutes of fame" to describe how short celebrity can be . Just 15 minutes until something new appears !
With the Pop Art, artists took their inspiration from today's life, comics,parodies of advertisements. They were inspired by things ordinary people could recognize, ordinary and common things as the work on "Campbell Soups". Warhol used to say he did this work because he was always having a Campbell Soup for lunch .
Yes I am. My mother is crazy about this period. So, I know that Andy Warhol creted his studio named "The Factory" . He collaborated with many artists : musicians, writers and many more .He designed many album cover and created a goup "The Velvet Underground" whith Lou Reed who died a few years ago.
he mainly used photographies silk-screened (sérigraphiée) on paintings.
The colours are bright, sometimes ireal. On the Marylin Monroe set, the first paintis are very bright and then they become darker and darker. The color of the make-up of her eyes is always the same than the one of the background. Some of the pictures are quite bright and some very dark, ireal. It's like the image was so dark that you couldn't see anything : the painting is dying as Marylin did. Though Warhol was gay , he was "in love" with marylin. He painted her after her death.
Warhol was high . But he used saturated colors to transgress reality .The carnation of the skin , most of the time, is irreal.
