I have choosen to talk
about the series 13 reasons why. This new series became
popular very quickly in the teen audience. In thirteen episodes we
follow the stoy of two main characters: Hannah a teenager that
commited suicide and Clay one of her bestfriends, who tries to
understand the reasons why she did that. Hannah left cassettes, about
the thirteen reasons why she commited suicide, for the people that
were involved in these reasons, or that were not attentive enough to
her problems.
I decided to summerize
this series because it talks about a lot of problems teens encounter
during their highschool years that are sometimes considered taboo. In
fact most of Hannah's reasons are problems that are too often ignored
by society as rape, women objectification or bullying.
Althought this series is
an eye opener for several things it also leads to a more negative
message towards the audience. In fact in this series the girl that
commits suicide gets to one of her goals by doing so, getting
vengence from the people that hurt her. And as the people watching
are around the same age as the main characters, and sometimes have
similar problems, this series could send out the message that suicide
is an option for everyone confronting these issues.
