Halloween is at first a Celtic party of Irish origin: the new Celtic year! Approximately 3000 years ago, the Celtic calendar(timetable) did not end on December 31st, but on October 31st. And this last night of the year was the night of the god of the death (Samain or Samhain). In October, nights lie down again and the legend tells that the ghosts took advantage of it to visit the alive. Then to avoid that the ghosts come to haunt them, the Celtic had some rites of which that to get dressed with terrifying suits to frighten the ghosts and to meet to party in the evening of October 31st. It is the Irish immigrants who brought with them the tradition of Halloween in the United States!
