Andy Warhol, real name Andrew Warhola, was born on August 6th, 1928 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylavania, and died in New-York on February, 22nd 1987. He was an American artist, a leading and major figure in Pop Art movement.
Warhol was known all over the world for his work as a painter, a music producer, author, and, as well for his "avant-garde" movies, and his acquaintances with intellectuals, Hollywood celebrities or wealthy (rich) aristocrats.
Although his work remains controversial, he has been the subject of many exhibitions, books,and movies after his death. Warhol is usually said to be one of the most famous artist of the twentieth century.
