Since the era MEIJI, Japan became the american capitalistic economy with an industry Hi-Tech.
Indeed Japan spends 3,3% of his GDP ( gross domestic product ) ( it corresponds to the PIB in French ), in R&D ( Reashearch and Development )
Today Japan is the third EEZ ( exclusive economics zone ) and third GDP in the World with inhabitants who live very well : their HDI is 0.92 per locals ( in comparison in French it is 0.9 )
Japan cutlure is very influential for the inhabitants. Indeed, Japanese are sensitive to art in general like martial art, manga, japanese animations and a lot of other things.
Japanese are generally polite, reserved, and do not show their emotions even if they are particularly emphatic. Thus, it is difficult to know what they think about us : we can’t know if we made a good or a bad impression.
They follow perfectly rules and orders, and respect accuracy and cleanliness.
The Japanese attach also great importance to the hierarchical position and are ready for anything to honor their promises.
On an other side, Japanese cannot stand the unexpected, delays, emotional outbursts, people who speak loudly and who attract attention.
To sucess in the bussiness field in Japan, you HAVE TO BE PERFECT.
This is the reason why you have to learn the customs and traditions of the country, and be very respectful in regard with them.
1. To greet.
Shaking hand and .
Japanese practice the “Ojigi”. is to bow to the other person, placing your arms along your legs for men and on your stomach for women.
Caution ! If your interlocutor is better positioned than you in the company you have to bow lower than him.
By the way, the hierarchical position is very important in their culture so you can’t call someone by his name. You must use a title. Like “San” for the courtesy, “Sama” for the huge respect or “Sensei” for profesors or doctor.
