a) At the age of 18, he had emigrated to the US to become an actor. He had done all sorts of odd jobs to pay for acting lessons.
b) he had got his first part and by the time he had been 27, he had already reached world fame.
c) when he had met my grand-mother, he had already acted in five.... and he had become the wealthiest actor....
d) At 40, he had made a big decision. He had stopped his acting career, had left Hollywood and had gone back to Ireland!
