Arthur Conan Doyle was born in 1859 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He wrote his first detective novel in 1887 at the age of 28 years old. He is most famous for having created the Sherlock Holmes books. The first of the series was written in 1891.
However, the author is notable for other works, including some historical books.
On the 10th of August 1902, he was knighted by the queen, thus obtaining the title of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle.
He died at the age of 71 in 1930.
