Bonjour,
1) Trenches were built by the soldiers themselves.
2) To make a wall, they were asked to put large and heavy sandbags and if they wanted the wall to resist, they’d put more and more sandbags on top of the other.
3) Every single trenche that was built in World War I was given the name of a famous London street.
4) The trenches made a very big and funny City, because they were given the same name as a London street. That would make like if they were in the actual London.
