The White Lady
There are several versions of this story. According to testimonies, she would have been seen as much in Europe as in America. Here is one of the many stories featuring it. Take this story since it is told by a doctor. A person who is a priori rather realistic and feet on the ground. The testimony dates from 1977.
After a long day's work, the doctor returns home one evening, in a pouring rain. He sees at the side of the road a young woman dressed in white. He stops and offers to bring her home. She accepts and after indicating her address she does not say a word.
She remains very quiet until they pass on the Pont-du-Furet. At this moment, she is agitated and frightened. At the destination, the doctor lends him his umbrella and waits for her to bring him back.
Not seeing her coming back, he rings at the door. A couple opens him, he tells his story and describes the girl. The couple, visibly very moved, tells him then that it is their only daughter who lost his life on a motorcycle Pont-du-Furet years before.
