nicknamed "Ike", born October 14, 1890 in Denison (Texas) and died March 28, 1969 in Washington, DC, is a US military and statesman member of the Republican Party, 34th President of the United States for two terms, from 20 January 1953 to 20 January 1961. During the Second World War, he was General of the Army and Commander-in-Chief of the Supreme Headquarters Allied Expeditionary Force.
He was Chief of Staff of the United States Armed Forces from 1945 to 1948 and Supreme Allied Commander Europe from April 2, 1951 to May 30, 1952.
As president of the United States, he oversees the ceasefire in Korea, launches the space race, develops the network of interstate highways and makes the development of nuclear weapons one of its priorities in the Cold War with the USSR.
