Réponse :In 1847 Levi Strauss emigrated to the USA and arrived in New-York.  

He was German and didn't speak English very well, but his brothers helped him to get a job.

In 1849 people discovered gold in California.  

Levi decided to go to California because he wanted to open a shop to sell fabric for tents.

He didn't his fabric because the gold miners didn't need tents,but they needed strong trousers.  

What did he done then ?

He used the fabric to make trousers and invented Levi Strauss jeans in 1850.

His trousers were an immediate success and after miners, a lot of cowboys, farmers and factory workers adopted them. ​
