Scientists create new information, discover something new – they try to solve problems creating something new what supposes to solve the problem or help people have a better life. But detectives try to solve problems using devices that already exist. They rely on present technologies to solve cases and mysteries.
When scientists are creating information, detectives are using information that is already there and try to solve problems on this basis. If the information is not enough, they search for more and investigate – making decisions on logical ground. So they do not create new information, as scientists, but only discover it.
