I agree with the quote of the former president of the United States, John Fitzgerald Kennedy, assassinated in 1963: "Mankind must put an end to war, or war will put an end to mankind."
In my opinion, humanity is the main cause of war. In fact, war is the result of aggressive colonization where the aim of war was to invade and conquer lands and to exploit the riches of those lands. For example, President George W. Bush declared war on Iraq during the Gulf War to protect Kuwait's oil fields from the Iraqi since they fuel the American military and economy.
As it's said: "To resolve a problem, we must go back to its cause". Since humanity corresponds to the cause, it is us who must find a solution. Every war was finished thanks to the choices taken, to the agreements signed between the representatives of hostile nations; and who are these representatives? These are people. So only men have the power to put an end to war.
However, if mankind doesn't react and lets war take over, mankind will be the cause of its doom. If we take for example World War I and II, mankind "was dead" in its two distinct meanings. In fact, in its true sense, namely these wars resulted in millions of deaths (for example the Armenians in the Armenian Genocide) but also in her figurative sense. During war, people tend to lose their morality and sense of reason. They are no longer humans but instead animals because their survival instinct and the survival of the fittest were imposed by wars. Without any remorse, emotion, or heart, people can kill anyone who stands a threat to their moral goal to victory; other men, maybe women, or even children. Little by little, they forget their human nature and become animals of war.
For this reason, I believe that John Fitzgerald Kennedy was right and mankind should think about this quote.
