bonjour !
je me lance !!
I am going to tell you about the famous american U.S. 66 Route . It is 2,280 miles long and starts in Chicago, Illinois, north-east of the United States and ends on the Pacific Ocean Coast Highway at Santa Monica, Los Angeles, south-east of the country .
The U.S. 66 runs through the Mojave desert which stretches over three States : Nevada, California and Arizona.
"Roy's Café" was one of the icon of the US 66.
With so many ghost cities, the Mojave desert is the place to be (the paradise) for the photographers and the ghosts' lovers ( ou "amateurs" en anglais aussi).
In the golden years of the US 66, Amboy was a village with its ten buildings, its bank and its legendary café "Roy's café".... When the US66 was decommissionned in the mid 80's (new sections of more sophisticated highways were built), the inhabitants left Amboy, wich day after day, declined and became empty as a ghost city. Only visitors would come to take pictures of those symbolic places neglected.
In 2009, new owners of the city began a restoration of the infrastructures and "Roy's café" as well to its former glory. It was re-opened as a nostaligia tourist destination.
The Amboy Crater is 4 km west from the village. It's a 10,000 years old vulcano and had been a touristic place. Nowadays, it remains alone in the desrt , silent.
Motels are decorated in a western vintage way so the visitors can be taken on a journey in the atmosphere of the US 66./can be taken back)
This mythical road has become the symbol of an entire american generation, passionated (fascinated) by freedom and travellings.
It really was the icon of the new America, united and adventuress.
Built to be a major path for those who migrates West, the US 66 has encouraged thousands of americans to hit the road to explore their own country.
American pop-culture artists publicized US 66 through television , songs, and movies as "The grapes of wrath".
la phrase à la fin "it really was the icon....." je pense que tu devrais l'enlever. Tu l'as déjà dit avant......
