The vegemite was invented by an Australian doctor from Melbourne who wanted to produce the richest food possible in vitamin B to compensate for the deficiencies of some of his patients.
The vegemite has become one of the Australian culinary specialties most sought after by tourists and consumed on a large scale by the Australians themselves. Considered by Australians at the same level as Nutella for the French, they love it and generally eat it on toast for breakfast and snacks in spite of a very salty taste that can be dissuasive for the uninformed.
