I am going to talk about the notion of Forms of power. The power is a strength or a force exerted or capable of being exerted, power is synonym of might. He can be exerted by Justice, the medias (like televisions, radios), social networks, High political authorities or, as we saw in class, by a whole country.
To illustrate that notion, I am going to talk about the power that social networks exercise on people, or the influence they have.
First, 10 years ago the social networks have began (pas sûre ici) to have a big success, like facebook, twitter, instagram. Social networks are used a lot by the whole world today and have a big power on people. There are many positive but also negative points on this power.
The power of information is certainly one of the most important that the social networks practice, Besides, this immediate power eliminates at the same time the barrier of the borders and the censorship. Indeed on the social networks a lot of information is directly given.
For example we can be also informed about accidents, attack on accounts of information on Facebook, Twitter as bfmtv.
Moreover many politicians use the social networks to express themselves, as Trump, Barack Obama who communicate a lot by twitter. This communication allows to put of the closeness between the president and the people, Barak Obama was qualified as the "president of the social networks" and knew how to communicate directly with the voters. Obama joins 33 million subscribers on Facebook, 23 millions followers on twitter and 1,7 millions on Instagram. The social networks allow to share opinions, they have the power to make change the opinion of people.
The social networks also have an economic power, Indeed the social networks allow companies to be famous by the publicity.
But social networks have also a negative power on people. Indeed today many teens are social media users. Almost 2 thirds of American teens have had a positive experience and only a few have been the victims of cyberbully. We talk about cyberbully when someone who uses the internet to harm or frighten another person.
By using social networks to much, we become more and more dependent on them. We are curious to know what happens in people's life etc...
The social networks also give some power to people who can offend and humble people through the social networks.
Moreover the social networks have the power to isolate people from the real world, it can be dangerous, people tend to forget how to have real life relationships as they spend too much time having a virtual life, We can meet fake people who use the identity of another person.
I think that the social networks are a good way to share and a good way to communicate but it is necessary to pay attention to not become dependent
To conclude The social networks have some power on people, they have a economic, social or political power. They allow people to express themselves, to share their opinions to change the world and we have to pay attention of unhealthy people who take the power on us and can hurt .
